The Department of Anthropology at Boston University is seeking a full-time Course Facilitator (CF) with expertise and training in Sociocultural Anthropology to support undergraduate instruction during Spring 2027 semester. The salary of 20,000 is the rate per semester.
Position SummaryThe Course Facilitator provides comprehensive instructional support for assigned undergraduate courses. The CF works closely with course instructors to facilitate effective teaching and learning, support students, and assist with routine course administration.
This is a full-time, 100% appointment for the Spring 2027 semester. A full-time appointment is considered a 40-hour-per-week position. Course Facilitator assignments are determined based on departmental pedagogical needs, course enrollment, and section size. A full-time CF typically supports up to eight 100-level discussion sections per semester, up to four 100-level laboratory sections per semester, or an equivalent combination of instructional responsibilities.
For Spring 2027, the Department is seeking a candidate with demonstrated expertise and training in Sociocultural Anthropology to support and teach sections of a Sociocultural Anthropology course.
Key Responsibilities include attending assigned lectures and discussion or laboratory sections; leading and facilitating discussion or laboratory sections as assigned; supporting the instructor in delivering course content and facilitating student learning; holding regular office hours and meeting individually with students to provide academic support; responding to student questions and inquiries in a timely and professional manner; grading assignments, examinations, and other course assessments in accordance with instructor guidelines;
providing students with constructive feedback on coursework; assisting with routine course administration, including maintaining course materials, communicating with students, and supporting course logistics; participating in regular meetings with the course instructor to coordinate instructional activities, grading, and student support; performing other related instructional duties as assigned.
- Graduate-level training in Anthropology or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated academic or professional training in Sociocultural Anthropology.
- Experience supporting undergraduate instruction, teaching, facilitating discussion sections, or providing academic support to students.
- Experience with grading and evaluating undergraduate student work.
- Strong understanding of anthropological theory and methods relevant to Sociocultural Anthropology.
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse academic and personal backgrounds.
- Availability to work a full-time schedule during the Spring 2027 semester.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and student-support skills.
- Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and facilitate productive classroom discussions.
Qualifications:
- Graduate-level training in Anthropology or a closely related field.
