About the RoleThe Process/Product Engineer is responsible for optimizing production processes, improving product quality, and supporting new product development for Valley Mountain Staffing's client’s ceramic and insulation products. This role bridges engineering, production, and quality, ensuring efficient manufacturing performance and consistency in product standards.
Responsibilities- Analyze, design, and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production equipment and processes.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, yield, and throughput.
- Support new product development from concept through full-scale production.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to resolve technical issues.
- Design process controls and perform root-cause analysis on production challenges.
- Specify, justify, and implement new equipment and automation upgrades.
- Collect and analyze production data to drive process optimization and sustainability improvements.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards and regulations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in a process, product, or manufacturing engineering role; experience in ceramics, materials, or high-temperature processing preferred.
- Strong understanding of process control, quality systems, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Hands‑on problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with CAD, data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar), and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with kilns, refractory materials, or advanced ceramics manufacturing.
- Background in Six Sigma, SPC, or ISO 9001 environments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced production setting.
