Junior Field Technician – PDS Tech Commercial
Location: Boston, MA
Pay: $28–$38/hr
Employment type: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm
PDS Tech Commercial is supporting a major real estate and network relocation initiative for a leading telecommunications innovator—and we’re hiring Junior Field Technicians who are eager to learn, grow, and make an impact. WhatYou’ll Do
- Design, plan, integrate, migrate, and decommission key technology layers including Outside Plant (fiber installation and support), Inside Plant (rack installation, cabling, labeling, equipment support), DWDM systems, SDH transport, IP and routing layers, DCN, and critical infrastructure (space, power, and cooling).
- Work closely with Senior Field Technicians on‑site and in the field.
- Support inventory management using specialized systems.
- Analyze and manipulate data with detail and accuracy.
- Assist with documentation and reporting.
- Travel between project sites as required.
- Contribute to migration, integration, and decommissioning activities.
- Degree or MSc in an engineering discipline.
- Foundational knowledge of telecommunications concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Advanced Excel or Access skills are a strong advantage.
- Understanding of IP networking principles (desirable).
- Experience with AC/DC power (desirable).
- Practical or lab experience with telecom equipment (routers, switches, etc.).
- Enthusiastic and proactive.
- Motivated to learn and take on responsibility.
- Detail‑oriented and organized.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Real hands‑on field experience with industry‑leading technologies.
- Mentorship from Senior Field Technicians and engineering teams.

- Exposure to OSP, ISP, DWDM, SDH, IP, and critical infrastructure disciplines.
