Medical Device – Electromechanical – Robotics – Mechanisms
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary R&D team developing a next‑generation robotic surgical platform.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and refine mechanical subsystems for a robotic surgical platform, including robotic arms, end‑effectors, drive mechanisms, and disposable instruments.
- Generate detailed 3D CAD models and drawings using Solid Works or equivalent, applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Conduct tolerance stack‑ups, FEA (e.g., using Ansys or Abaqus), and DFM/DFA analysis to ensure robust performance and manufacturability.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, software, systems, and manufacturing teams to ensure design integration and functional alignment.
- Support rapid prototyping, bench testing, and iterative design processes to evaluate and optimize mechanical solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, verification and validation (V&V) activities, and documentation for regulatory submissions (e.g., FDA Class II/III).
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards including ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820.
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3–7 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in medical devices, surgical robotics, or complex electromechanical systems.
- Proficient in 3D CAD (Solid Works or equivalent), FEA tools, and tolerance analysis methods.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material selection, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, with hands‑on experience in prototyping and test fixture development.
- Experience developing Class II/III medical devices under a quality system (ISO 13485 or FDA QSR).
- Familiarity with actuator selection, transmission design, and motion control integration.
