In this role, you will focus on the integration of advanced laser systems into Quantum Processing Unit(QPU) machine environments and ensuring reliable operations through optimum hosting infrastructure. This position serves as the bridge between laser systems design/build and final deployment, covering rack/platform design, system integration, installation and operational readiness.
Occasional international travel is required.
- Platform Development & Integration
- Design, build, and validate Quantum Rack platforms optimized for vibration damping, thermal management, and noise isolation.
- Integrate laser system blocks into full machine hosting environments, ensuring alignment with optical, electrical, and mechanical interface standards.
- Deployment & Field Support
- Own the physical installation and commissioning of laser racks within QPU systems.
- Interface with build, operations, and development teams to ensure seamless handoff and support.
- Operational Reliability
- Collaborate cross-functionally to establish uptime best practices, maintenance schedules, and rapid service interventions.
- Document integration SOPs, interface maps, and environmental requirements for laser system hosting.
- Work closely with Hardware Engineering, Test Infrastructure, and Build teams to ensure cross-functional compatibility.
- Provide engineering input for new laser platform designs to ensure integration readiness.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Equivalent hands‑on experience will also be considered.
- Proven experience with mechanical or opto‑mechanical integration of complex platforms, preferably in quantum computing, photonics, or advanced scientific instrumentation.
- Expertise in vibration isolation, damping techniques, and thermal management for precision systems.
- Experience deploying, integrating, and supporting lab‑scale or field‑deployed scientific systems.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and a hands‑on approach to engineering challenges in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
