Senior Development Engineer, Electromechanical

12-month contract

On-site in Newton, MA

The Senior Development Engineer will be a part of the R&D organization and an important contributor to the realization of the next generation robotic platform that will change the future of healthcare. You will be a visible technical resource working on development of a complex electro-mechanical system. There will be direct contribution from prototype to verification builds and testing within a regulated medical device development environment.

This role is suited for a senior-level R&D engineer with experience working cross functionally to complete V&V activities, improve incoming inspection procedures, author documentations, and support R&D development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop test method, protocols, execute tests, prepare reports and release them via ECOs

• Maintain disciplined test, configuration control, documentation, and management processes throughout

• Propose requirements refinement to better support V&V activities

• Analyze test results. Apply statistical analysis as needed

• Support incoming inspection activities as needed

• Support fixture/ equipment validation as needed

• Support multi-disciplinary technical and process improvement projects

• Support vendor communications and procurement issues

• Perform issue resolutions on multi-disciplinary technical issues within the program

• Manage and communicate assigned projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years work experience in complex electromechanical system development within R&D environment

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering or a close field is required

• Experience in heavily-regulated industries such as medical device or aerospace is required

• Proficient in developing test methods, protocols, performing tests and releasing relevant documentation.

• Experienced in fixture and process validation.

• Experienced in using statistical tools and software such as Minitab

• Must have experience in cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership

• Must have hands‑on experience in assembly, integration, and test of electro‑mechanical systems

• Knowledge of industry best practices for development of complex electromechanical systems is required

• A working knowledge of DFM/A, Six Sigma, and statistical tolerance analysis

• Familiarity with ASME drafting standards including GD&T (Y14.5‑2018) a plus

• Experience using, modifying, and programming in MATLAB Simulink or Lab View is desired

• Must have experience in project management including task timeline estimation and work breakdown structures

• Outstanding documentation and communication skills required

• Proficiency in using MS Office required
