Job DescriptionWSP is one of the globe's leading engineering firms, helping New England clients and communities improve their infrastructure. WSP is currently initiating a search for a Highway Resident Engineer to oversee new, replacement, or rehabilitated infrastructure with construction values ranging from $1-$50 million. The position can be based out of Boston, Worcester, Chelmsford, MA, or Providence, RI.
Your Impact- Hands‑on or management duties include managing a staff of inspectors, surveyors, and material technicians; daily interface with contractors, subcontractors, and project owners; chairing progress meetings and preparing minutes; reviewing contract documents and ensuring conformance to plans and specifications; reviewing submittals and shop drawings; anticipating and resolving design and construction issues; reviewing contractor schedule; completing daily reports and measuring quantities; leading contractor pay requisition development;
evaluating and negotiating change orders; monitoring traffic maintenance compliance; taking photographs of daily progress; updating drawings using Bluebeam; preparing punch lists; coordinating final inspections and final pay estimates; supporting final closeout; exercising responsible decision‑making; adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies; and upholding workplace safety.
- High School Diploma
- 11 years applicable experience, including 4 years supervising staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; average proficiency with MS Word Suite
- Valid driver’s license
- Track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Associate or Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field
- ACI or NETTCP certifications, or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring
- Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD, or similar; knowledge of Bluebeam
- Demonstrated supervisory skills
- Any combination of education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered
Expected Salary: $78,200–$136,730. WSP USA provides a comprehensive suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings.
