Senior Estimator – Heavy Civil Recruiter – Northeast at LVI Associates

Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr.

This Senior Estimator role involves developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for projects to ensure the organization remains a competitive bidder. The position collaborates with a team of estimators to create multidisciplinary estimates and works independently on projects of smaller scope and complexity.

Responsibilities
  • Review project plans, requirements, and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and define scope of work, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and pricing through self-perform production-based estimates or unit price estimating.
  • Analyze bid documents and material requirements to assess constructability and material needs.
  • Initiate subcontractor solicitations and engage in quality discussions to gain detailed knowledge of assigned work.
  • Prepare bid packages, including comparison and analysis of competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Evaluate subcontractor bonding capabilities, workload, and prior performance.
  • Develop estimates for multiple delivery systems and review quotes with the project management team.
  • Assist with certain post-bid buyouts.
  • Participate in presentations with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Understand contract requirements for diversity compliance.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, and engineering principles
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong understanding of costs and market conditions
  • Accountability for commitments and continuous improvement
  • Ability to interpret subcontractor quotations and project documentation accurately
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    Advanced proficiency with estimating software
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel for projects in different regions
