Overview
Senior Estimator – Geotechnical & Deep Foundations (Hybrid)
Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid - 3 days in office)
A leading specialty geotechnical and deep foundations contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead estimating operations for complex civil and underground projects across the Northeast.
This is a senior role with direct influence over bid strategy, pricing, risk evaluation, and project pursuit decisions. The successful candidate will work closely with executive leadership, operations, and engineering to support continued growth in the Boston and New England markets.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee all estimating activities for geotechnical, deep foundation, ground improvement, and underground construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to define scope, risk, and pricing strategy.
- Establish bid strategy, markups, contingencies, and pricing assumptions.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and project management to ensure constructability and execution alignment.
- Lead subcontractor and supplier outreach, bid leveling, and scope clarification.
- Maintain historical cost data, production rates, and estimating best practices.
- Mentor and develop junior estimators and preconstruction staff.
- Support value engineering, alternative means & methods, and schedule-driven pricing.
- 10+ years of estimating experience within geotechnical, deep foundations, heavy civil, or specialty construction.
- Proficient with HCSS Heavy Bid
. - Deep foundations (drilled shafts, piles, micropiles).
- Earth retention systems (secant walls, soldier pile & lagging, tiebacks).
- Ground improvement and complex subsurface work.
- Ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present to executive leadership and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Senior leadership role with direct impact on company growth.
