Controller Real Estate

Overview

A real estate investment and management firm with a portfolio primarily focused on residential assets is seeking a Controller to lead and oversee all aspects of the company's accounting operations. This role will manage the internal accounting team, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and support various tax, audit, and compliance functions. The ideal candidate has a strong background in real estate accounting and experience with Yardi software.

• Lead and manage the accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Property Accounting functions
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for multiple real estate entities
• Prepare and review trial balances and supporting schedules for external tax advisors and auditors
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and investment reports
• Review quarterly cash flow and manage the investor distribution processes
• Manage annual audits such as workers  compensation reviews and other regulatory requirements
• Ensure accurate and timely payment of state and federal taxes
• Coordinate with external stakeholders such as tax advisors, financial institutions, and insurance providers

• Bachelor s degree in Accounting required
• CPA preferred
• 7-10 years of real estate accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Proficiency with Yardi and Excel
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities

• Commensurate with experience ($125,000-$150,000) plus bonus
