- Business Tax Services – Private Tax – Corporate Manager

The opportunity:

EY Private Tax is a growing practice focused on privately held companies, from family-owned businesses to private equity owned companies. Our clients range from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar global private companies. You will work on technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects and have opportunities to progress to senior manager with strong support and training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support senior managers through partners in providing tax services; balance time between compliance and planning; interact directly with clients.
  • Heavy focus on corporate returns as well as provision work; opportunity to work on flow-through entities (i.e., partnerships).
  • Aim to become a trusted advisor and role model across multiple teams, developing a diverse network of colleagues.

Responsibilities detail

  • Preparing or reviewing federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and some partnerships, including foreign reporting for cross-border compliance (foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, and foreign affiliate reporting).
  • Providing tax research, tax memoranda drafting, and assistance in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
  • Identifying and communicating significant tax matters to Senior Managers, Managing Directors and Partners.
  • Liaising with other service lines and professionals; building long-term client relationships with tailored services.
  • Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technical and best-practice standards.
  • Managing, coaching and developing a team of tax professionals; reviewing work and ensuring access to tools and opportunities to excel.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, supported by tax, business or financial planning experience.
  • CPA certification or membership in The Bar.
  • Prior experience with ASC 740 tax provisions.
  • Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills; ability to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization.
  • Commitment to continuing learning.
  • Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH Intelli Connect, One Source, BNA or Lexis Nexis.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and to work in a balanced hybrid environment.
  • Experience in managing, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
