Corporate Controller - Up to $180k/yr + Bonus
Seeking a Corporate Controller to lead corporate-level accounting and finance operations across the firm’s entities. This role supports strategic decisions, ensures financial integrity, and drives performance, while also leading key tech initiatives like ERP (Sage) and travel & expense system implementations.
About the CompanyA private equity firm focused on opportunistic and value-oriented commercial real estate investments across the U.S. They target properties with strong return potential through operational improvements or distressed and complex situations. Their investments span various capital structures, including joint venture equity, preferred equity, mezzanine loans, and transitional first mortgages. Since 1993, the firm has invested over $21 billion in commercial real estate.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare GAAP and tax-basis financial statements, manage audits, tax filings, and oversee tax payments
- Execute quarterly and year-end close processes, including accruals, depreciation, investment entries, and intercompany reconciliations
- Prepare detailed financial reports and variance analysis for senior management, including business line P&L, cash flow, and expense allocations
- Manage cash and expense processes: billbacks, vendor payments, wire transfers, cash reconciliation, and procurement cost strategies
- Support capital transactions and partner allocations, including capital calls, distributions, profit‑sharing, partner compensation, and loan reconciliations
- Drive process improvements and technology implementations, reviewing and enhancing policies and departmental systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA required
- Over 10 years of accounting/controllership experience in real estate or private equity, preferably with Big 4 and corporate management company background
- Highly detail‑oriented, organized, analytical, and skilled in problem‑solving with strong customer and investor focus
- Proficient in complex accounting, finance concepts, Excel, and partnership structuring; experienced with Sage ERP and expense systems
- Self‑motivated, proactive, thrives under pressure, adaptable to ambiguity and change, with a strong sense of ownership
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams and organizational levels
