Corporate Controller
We are seeking a Corporate Controller to lead and oversee the company’s accounting and finance activities at the corporate level, including the management, development, and investment companies. This role is critical in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the firm, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving financial performance. The candidate will play a key role in several transformative technology initiatives, including but not limited to, the implementation of a new accounting ERP system (Sage) and the selection and implementation of a travel & expense solution.
This position offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary of up to $180,000 and a bonus opportunity ranging from 25% to 40%.
Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting- Maintain accurate books and records, prepare GAAP and tax-basis financial statements, manage audits and tax filings with external accountants, and oversee tax payments
- Execute quarterly, and year-end close processes, including but not limited to, revenue and expense accruals, recording of amortization and depreciation expense, investment entries (such as capital contributions and distributions), and intercompany reconciliations
- Manage the corporate billback process for investment funds and properties, including credit cards and invoices
- Reconcile cash balances and monitor firm-level daily cash position
- Support the corporate capital call and distribution process, including calculations, notice preparation, and cash disbursement
- Review monthly construction management & development fee calculations from development affiliate
- Contribute to and support current and upcoming department technology enhancements
- Review current policies and procedures and propose enhancements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA required
- 10+ years of relevant accounting / controllership experience in the real estate and/or private equity industry, including Big 4 accounting experience, strong preference for prior corporate / management company experience
- Strong working knowledge in a variety of accounting, finance and technology concepts, practices and procedures, and an understanding of entity / partnership structuring; proficient in complex Excel formulas
- Proficiency with Sage ERP system and travel and expense solutions
