Vice President, Investment Accounting

Vice President, Investment Accounting – full‑time salary + bonus & benefits role in Boston, MA. The role will be located in our Boston, MA office 4 days weekly. This is a direct-hire position; the client cannot sponsor or support additional layers of employment. The candidate must be willing to work onsite daily and reside in Boston.

  Vice President, Investment Accounting
• Supports the investment accounting team across four asset areas: REITs, consumer credit, alternative energy, and transportation.
• Full‑time, in‑office role; candidate must reside in Boston or be willing to work onsite daily.

• Manage and support the monthly and quarterly close.
• Ensure accurate statutory (STAT) and GAAP reporting for insurance investments.
• Partner cross‑functionally with investment, accounting, finance, actuarial, and risk teams.
• Serve as liaison between accounting and specialized investment silos.
• Contribute to process modernization and ongoing team initiatives.

• Deep U.S. STAT accounting experience – this is the #1 filter.
• Hands‑on monthly/quarterly close – not suitable for audit‑only or review‑only profiles.
• Insurance or reinsurance investment accounting background.

• Experience with real estate investment trusts (REITs).
• Familiarity with Clearwater accounting software.
• CPA license (not required).
• Exposure to consumer or private credit.

• Candidates with audit‑only or Big 4‑only experience lacking applied close and statutory accounting.
• Remote or minimal hybrid candidates – this is strictly Boston‑based, in‑office 4 days weekly.

• Short‑staffed and operating under time pressure.
• Culture is collaborative but stretched; leadership is highly engaged in the hiring process.
• New Boston office currently in Brighton, moving to Seaport in late 2026.
