Description

Independently develops concise and accurate credit analyses of prospects and current customers in a deadline‑focused environment with minimal guidance. Uses expertise to evaluate both private and public entities, reviews complex transactions, and writes well‑structured analyses that reflect a comprehensive understanding of credit risk and its relationship to recommended collateral products and unsecured exposure. Collaborates with underwriters and management to determine appropriate collateral amounts and structures for insured programs, facilitates approval of exceptions when needed, and communicates financial results, trends and business implications to management, stakeholders and other groups at the appropriate level of detail.

Proactively leads complex efforts to continuously improve processes to ensure work is performed as efficiently and effectively as possible. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, leads development and facilitation of training, travels to support underwriting at broker and client meetings as required.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately analyzes financial statements and related filings for a diverse and complex group of policyholders and prospective customers, including assigned credit rating, key strengths, weaknesses, industry outlook and recommended collateral options.
  • Collaborates with underwriters and management to determine appropriate collateral amounts and structures for insured programs and facilitates approval of exceptions when needed.
  • Understands and interprets financial statements of varying quality, including internally company prepared statements up to those prepared in accordance with GAAP or IFRS, and comprehends organizational structures, investment and debt has on creditworthiness.
  • Regularly accesses and utilizes informational resources such as First Research, rating agencies and other sources to identify trends and gauge performance relative to peers and industry.
  • Drives production of complex management reports and associated results analysis, identifying business drivers and communicating them effectively.
  • Continually assesses business value and efficiency of work performed, identifies problems and opportunities, drives implementation and monitors results.
  • Initiates and leads complex department projects and continuous improvement activities, working cross‑functionally with other departments.
  • Supports development of team members through best practices, peer reviews and training of less experienced analysts.
  • Must live within 50 miles of a GRS hub office and be able to come into the office two days per week.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.
  • CPA or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of finance experience; credit analysis and financial statement analysis preferred.
  • Attention to detail in a fast‑paced work environment and ability to manage and prioritize multiple accounts and projects simultaneously to drive results.
  • Excellent communication skills within team and across organizational boundaries to ensure successful completion of shared goals.
  • Comfortable leading meetings and communicating issues and trends to senior management and other groups at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Solid understanding of Finance Tools and Analytical Methods.
