GMO’s Emerging Debt Team is a focused team that manages $9.5 billion in dedicated EMD AUM for a variety of clients (pension funds, endowments, sub advisory, etc). It has a first-decile, 30-plus-year track record in managing hard currency strategies (EMBIG-D benchmark), and a first-decile 17-year track record in managing local currency strategy (GBI-EMGD benchmark). It also manages a select set of bespoke mandates.
The Emerging Debt Team is seeking to add a Corporate Credit Analyst to partner with and support a six-member team of portfolio managers and analysts. The team’s corporate credit research platform covers constituents of J.P. Morgan’s EMBI and CEMBI index suites, as well as select off-benchmark opportunities, with a particular focus on companies that benefit from varying degrees of government support, with a resulting coverage universe of 300+ names.
This position is based in Boston.
Responsibilities:
GMO’s Emerging Debt Team has a differentiated investment philosophy and process. Research analysts leverage quantitative methods to organize and inform fundamental research. The successful candidate will be expected to quickly absorb and apply the investment process, producing consistent, high-quality outputs aligned with the team’s comfortable balancing broad research coverage with targeted deep dives. The role requires coverage of a diverse universe of corporate credits across 80+ EM countries (IG and HY), 10+ sectors spanning corporates and financials, and all levels of the capital structure, while also conducting in-depth analysis of specific credit situations when warranted.
Perform rigorous analytical work, including corporate credit analysis, assessment of sovereign linkages, and evaluation of structural and contractual features of individual instruments across public and private debt markets. Maintain and regularly update proprietary financial and credit models.
