With an overarching commitment to community policing, officers of the Boston University Police Department are committed to the safety, security and support of the 45,000 plus members of our community.
Job ResponsibilitiesDispatch calls for police service, answer telephone calls and text messages, enter required info into police computer, dispatch appropriate police and emergency personnel, monitor and dispatch officers for alarm activations on campus, disseminate sensitive law enforcement information to officers obtained through state and federal sources, notify University community of crime information and emergency messages via the university’s alert notification system. Position is subject to overnight assignments and mandatory overtime based on seniority, assigned annually through seniority bidding.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent with one to three years of dispatcher experience.
- Ability to multitask using a variety of database systems in the Police Communications Center.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
