Job Summary
The MGH Institute of Health Professions invites applications for term lecturer faculty positions across a variety of programs, including:
• Communication Sciences & Disorders
• Genetic Counseling
• Health Professions Education
• Healthcare Administration & Data Analytics
• Nursing
• Occupational Therapy
• Physical Therapy
• Physician Assistant Studies
• Rehabilitation Sciences
• Healthcare Leadership
• Audiology
Term Lecturers are appointed on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon student demand, and typically teach between 3-9 credits per semester, dependent on program requirements, in various formats (ex. classroom settings, labs, simulation spaces, at clinical sites).
Term Lecturers hired into these roles will possess one of following titles:
Term Lecturer, Course Developer, Facilitator, Laboratory Instructor, Simulation Coordinator, Site Clinical Instructor, Teaching Fellow, Clinical Oversight Instructor, or Project Mentor.
Responsibilities primarily involve delivering didactic content through both on-site and online platforms, managing course delivery, grading, student mentoring, and maintaining regular office hours.
Qualifications
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The specific duties and responsibilities are contingent on the program and role. During the selection process, relevant program details will be provided.
Generally, the Term Lecturer will:
- Deliver high-quality instruction in alignment with their area of expertise and program needs.
- Develop and manage online course content using Desire to Learn (D2L) where applicable.
- Publish and maintain the course syllabus.
- Oversee course management and content delivery.
- Conduct assessments and assign grades for student performance.
- Provide student mentoring and academic support, including designated office hours.
While specific qualifications are program-dependent and will be clarified during the selection process, all Term Lecturers should generally possess:
- An advanced or terminal degree in a relevant field.
- Previous clinical experience in applicable programs.
- An active professional license for programs requiring licensure.
- A commitment to graduate student success and a demonstrated dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion within the academic environment.
- The ability to work independently and effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, administration, staff, patients, and external partners.

Specific skills, abilities, and competencies required are program and role-specific and will be communicated during the selection process. However, candidates should be prepared to meet the following general requirements:
- Physical Capabilities: The job involves regular activities such as sitting, standing, mobility, using hands for various tasks, and oral communication.
