Join Tufts Medicine as a Clinical Care Technician in the Mother‑Infant Unit. This 36‑hour per week position involves day/night rotations, rotating weekend shifts, and holidays.

This position is 36 hours per week on day/night rotation with rotating weekend shifts and holidays.

This role focuses on providing professional and non‑professional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. The Clinical Care Technician performs nursing support duties such as providing basic care services to patients, working under the direction of physicians, mid‑level practitioners, or registered nurses, and executing routine tasks with moderate supervision.

The Clinical Care Technician works under the supervision of a professional nurse and collaborates to meet the needs of patients, providing direct patient care, environmental support, and facilitating patient safety. The technician maintains competencies in role‑specific skills and supports the patient‑and‑family centered model of care.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA).
• Completion of Nursing Fundamentals in an accredited nursing program.
• One (1) year of related experience as a Nursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Critical Care Tech (CCT), or Patient Care Tech (PCT).
• Acute care experience.

• Assists the professional registered nurse with functional patient care, ensuring efficient, patient‑centered care appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
• Provides or assists patients with activities of daily living safely and respectfully, using proper body mechanics and ensuring patient dignity.
• Greets patients, families, visitors, and staff according to service standards and responds to requests promptly.
• Collects, records, and communicates patient clinical data to the assigned nurse on time.
• Prepares rooms for admission, transfer, or discharge, ensuring standardized equipment is ready for use.
• Transports or accompanies patients as necessary to other hospital areas safely and respectfully, acting as a sitter when requested.
• Provides comfort measures such as positioning, changing linen, back rubs, etc.
• Promotes patient activity by assisting with mobility and range of motion exercises as assigned.
• Sets up procedures as requested by nursing or medical staff.
• Cleans and discards used equipment and supplies following procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs specimen testing while maintaining standard precautions and preparing specimens for the lab.
• Responsible for biomedical equipment care, checking par levels and working order for blood pressure cuffs, EKG cables, leads, oximeter cables, etc.; sends malfunctioning equipment to Medical Engineering per established procedure.
• Cleans wounds and applies DSD as directed by the nurse after wound assessment.
• Performs 12‑lead EKG.
• Connects monitoring equipment to patients under the direction of the nurse.
• Cares for patient belongings and completes belongings list.
• Primers intravenous tubing with solution containing no medication.
• Performs and documents patient admission, transfer, and discharge tasks as requested by the nurse.
• Answers call lights and seeks appropriate personnel or action, performing hourly rounding per established guidelines.

• Lifting up to 30‑35 lbs and turning patients, with prolonged standing and walking, occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
• Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation for procedures and operating computer keyboard.
• Ability to see computer screen and reports.

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with detailed, confidential material.
• Computer experience.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care.

The base pay range reflects the minimum qualifications for the role: $20.12 – $25.15
