Lab Assistant

Labcorp Student Worker – Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA

Labcorp is seeking a Student Worker for a high‑volume, production‑based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.

Location: Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA

Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; 1 rotating weekend per month

Benefits: Employees scheduled for 20+ hours per week are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), PTO/FTO, Tuition Reimbursement, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees scheduled for less than 20 hours are only eligible for a 401(k) plan.

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Scan and/or enter data for specimen and patient information
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
• Troubleshoot any specimen‑related issues
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Currently enrolled in the Northeastern Co‑Op Program
• Previous medical/lab or production experience preferred
• Comfortable handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment and meet established turnaround times
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
• Must pass a standardized color‑blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
