Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated person to assist us with research conducted to understand the toxicity of PFAS (the Forever Chemicals) and other pollutants, and to design effective interventions. Our research spans immunotoxicology, liver toxicology, and cardiovascular toxicology. Central to this position is working with mouse models. You will maintain mouse colonies, perform mouse husbandry, dissect mice, and conduct molecular and biochemical analyses of samples derived from experimental mice.

You will also help manage daily tasks for the lab, maintain equipment and supplies, ensure safety compliance, manage data organization, present at lab meetings, and contribute to manuscript writing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and monitor mouse colonies, perform mouse husbandry.
  • Dissect mice and collect biological samples.
  • Perform molecular and biochemical analyses, including mRNA isolation, qPCR, protein assays, and hematological analyses.
  • Conduct histological and immunohistochemical analyses.
  • Assist in general laboratory tasks, equipment maintenance, supply management, and safety protocols.
  • Organize data and assist in preparing reports and manuscripts.
  • Present findings at research laboratory meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Less than 12 months of professional experience.
  • Desirable experience: mouse husbandry, handling of toxic chemicals, molecular methods (mRNA isolation, qPCR), biochemical/hematological assays, protein analysis, histology/immunohistochemistry.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research setting.
