Research Data Specialist – Thoracic Oncology
The Research Data Specialists (RDS) will support the Thoracic Oncology clinical research program in the areas of data collection, computing, and database organization. Duties include the examination, synthesis, and evaluation of medical records; the abstraction and recording of pertinent medical information; and the monitoring of patient status. The Clinical Data Specialist will be responsible for the collection, management, and quality assurance review of patient clinical data.
Responsibilities- Disease-based RDS positions: Review and abstract medical records for research patients on assigned trials; enter identified clinical data points in the corresponding database; ensure data is entered within outlined timelines; assist research teams with development, testing, and implementation of Case Report Forms for PI-initiated clinical trials.
- CRIS RDS positions: Evaluate and track eligibility of all patients seen in the clinic for inclusion; assist or be responsible for consenting eligible patients; maintain communication with Information Services and physicians; review and abstract medical records and enter data into Clinical Research Information Systems; access patient demographic and clinical information; review data for quality and completeness; collaborate with principal investigators; assist in creation of data reports;
coordinate collection, processing, organization, storage of biological specimens and maintain specimen tracking systems; may be responsible for IRB and regulatory submissions. - Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) RDS positions: Support clinical programs with outcomes data collection, reporting, analysis, and audits; ensure timely reporting to internal and external repositories; ensure case management documentation; perform QA/QC procedures; develop knowledge of specialized data sources; routinely reach out to offsite providers for medical records.

- Computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Either a bachelor’s degree or 1 year of experience as a Dana‑Farber Associate Research Data Specialist.
- Experience of 0‑1 years in a medical, scientific research, or technology‑oriented business environment preferred.

Salary$50,500 – $56,700 per year.
