Ambulatory Services Representative II - Cardiovascular Center (Full Time, 40 hours, Days)
Position Summary:
The incumbent will support the clinical practice by focusing on billing and managed care functions, including charge entries, billing edits, charge reconciliations, responding to billing inquiries, corresponding with insurance carriers, investigating billing discrepancies, and additional front‑end customer service, patient registration, insurance/coverage verification, and a variety of administrative duties as needed.

- Batch controls
- Billing (TES) edits
- Hold bill edits
- Charge reconciliations
- Responding to billing inquiries and managing correspondence with insurance carriers
- Investigating billing discrepancies
- General administrative support: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations to create and edit departmental documents
- Managing physician and manager calendars, scheduling administrative appointments, answering departmental calls, credentialing documents
- Wide variety of administrative duties: reception & customer service, verifying master patient index, registration demographics, visit management, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, co‑payment collection, front‑end review and correction of registration & insurance edits, pre‑authorization, referral coordination and reconciliation, referral work lists
- Handling phones & mail, filling out forms, filing, photocopying, faxing, preparing letters and reports
- Adherence to BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards
- High School/ GED + 3+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree + 1 year relevant experience
- Medical billing or similar setting preferred
- Excellent English communication skills (oral & written) and interpersonal skills
- Customer service skills with judgment, independent thinking and creativity
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information
- Ability to handle challenging situations and balance multiple priorities
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and web/internet; experience with hospital registration & billing systems or ability to learn such systems
$22.36 – $27.26 per hour, plus benefits including medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, 403(b) savings, paid time off, career advancement opportunities, and resources for employee and family wellbeing.
