Schedule:
36-hour Days (3) 12-hour shifts 7:00 am-7:00 pm Mandatory weekend shifts every month.
Patient Care Assistant – Adult Inpatient Medical

Located within the Internal Medicine / Department of Medicine, Bigelow 14 is a twenty-seven-bed adult inpatient unit. The unit serves patients from culturally diverse backgrounds and geographic areas that present with acute and complex medical problems. Patients are generally admitted to our unit from the Emergency Department or as a transfer from one of the intensive care units.
Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes
Essential Functions- Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
- Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
- Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
- Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
- Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
- Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.
- Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

- Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS] Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification] preferred Nursing Assistant- preferred
- Experience Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred

- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong patient/customer service skills.
