Job Summary

We are seeking a Patient Access Representative to join our healthcare call center team. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for patients, handling inbound calls, scheduling appointments, updating patient information, and delivering outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a medical office, patient access, or healthcare scheduling environment and be proficient with Epic EMR.

This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of calls while providing a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

+ Answer a high volume of inbound calls from patients, providers, and healthcare staff.

+ Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments across multiple specialties and locations.

+ Accurately document patient interactions within Epic EMR.

+ Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and registration information.

+ Provide patients with appointment preparation instructions and relevant healthcare information.

+ Route patient inquiries, messages, and urgent concerns to appropriate clinical or administrative teams.

+ Maintain knowledge of provider schedules, appointment types, and departmental workflows.

+ Assist patients with portal access, appointment confirmations, and general service inquiries.

+ Ensure all patient information is handled in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

+ Deliver exceptional customer service while meeting call quality and productivity metrics.

+ Collaborate with providers, front office staff, and clinical teams to ensure efficient patient scheduling and access.

Required Qualifications

+ Minimum 1 year of appointment scheduling experience in a healthcare setting.

+ Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office, patient access, patient registration, or healthcare front desk role.

+ Minimum 1 year of call center experience handling a high volume of inbound calls.

+ Experience utilizing Epic EMR for scheduling, registration, or patient access functions.

+ Strong customer service and telephone communication skills.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.

+ Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

+ Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Associate degree or healthcare-related education.

+ Experience supporting multiple medical specialties.

+ Knowledge of insurance verification and patient registration processes.

+ Experience working within a hospital system, physician practice, or large healthcare organization.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
