Position: Patient Care Technician- KM-7 Cardiology

KM-7 specialize in the care of patients post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery, You will be instrumental in helping the nurses on the med/surg/intermediate care in assisting our patients in their recovery.

This role collaborates with an inpatient nursing team to provide quality patient care. Reporting to a registered nurse, this person is someone enrolled in a University's Co-op program and seeking additional hands-on experience. Training, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by an Accountable Nurse Leader to the department.

Job Description Essential Responsibilities

Provides basic supportive care to patients including specific treatments and procedures related to Activities of Daily Living.

Develops and maintains competencies as delegated by a registered nurse including sterile dressing changes.

Collaborates with nursing staff to determine patient care plans.

Reports all patient activity to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

0-1 years related work experience required.

Patient care experience required through any of the following areas: CNA, MA, EMT, PCT certificate or completion of BIDMC in-house training program or Allied Health, Pre Med, and Physician Assistant candidates or Home Health Aide experience.

Enrolled in a University's Co-op program.

Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations. Specialized knowledge not required.

Team Work: Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.

Customer Service: Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
