Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resources Generalist, who is driven, passionate, and ready to roll up their sleeves, to join our business facing, customer service oriented, Boston based HR Team. As part of the North America HR Team, this role will be responsible for managing multiple areas of Human Resources support and administration, inclusive of the teammate onboarding experience, full management of the teammate life cycle, payroll and benefits support, and talent acquisition administrative support. You will play a key role in ensuring the seamless execution of HR processes, delivering a high-touch, positive experience for candidate and teammates, and will be the first point of call for all teammate inquiries, with a high degree of customer care, escalating issues as they arise.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for delivering dynamic new hire onboarding experience and facilitating weekly New Hire orientation focused on BHSI culture & values.
    • Support and management of the full teammate life cycle, offer to acceptance, new hire onboarding, teammate changes, promotions and compensation adjustments, organizational updates, and off-boarding.
    • Creation & delivery offer letters, initiating, and monitoring background checks, sharing onboarding information with managers and new joiners, and overseeing employment documentation verification (I9/E-Verify).
    • Coordinating and processing all teammate changes inclusive of promotional and compensation adjustments and other general organizational updates.
    • Developing exit guides, notification of teammate departures and final pay determination and appropriate recording keeping.
  • Coordinate all aspects of our Benefits program for our North American teammates, gaining expert knowledge of our benefits, including:
    • Help manage benefits changes for teammates.
    • Understand, answer, and help manage teammate questions and concerns with benefits questions related to health, dental, disability, life, and AD&D & 401K coverages.
    • Act as a liaison between teammates and benefit carriers: help resolve issues, get coverage clarification and act as an escalation point.
    • Benefit support inclusive of leave management, accommodations, and open enrollment.
  • Ensure data accuracy across HR systems through close partnership with Payroll and HR Operations.
  • Coordinate and monitor quarterly payroll reporting needs, including PTO usage, overtime, and other ad hoc reports.
  • Coordinate approvals and process tuition reimbursement requests under our tuition reimbursement program.
  • Ensure company compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements in the U.S.
  • Focus on operational excellence, gaining efficiencies, and process improvement.
  • Ownership of team collateral: including our HR Team page on the company intranet, teammate and manager guides, HR templates, orientation programming and accompaniments.
  • Opportunities to work on regional and global projects as needed to support the larger Human Resources People Agenda.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • At least 7 years of progressive, well rounded Human Resources Generalist experience across all disciplines.
  • Hands-on benefits experience, coupled with administering and managing company paid and state funded leaves, a plus.
  • Property & Casualty insurance experience a plus.

    Experience with ADP Workforce Now or other HRIS systems.
