We are seeking a Managing Director, Web & Brand to lead, inspire, and grow our agency’s web and branding practice. This senior leader will execute a clear vision that integrates strategy, design, development, and client services into a cohesive, high-performing offering.

As both a visionary and an operator, you will help set the direction for the department, drive execution across multidisciplinary teams, and ensure delivery of world-class digital experiences that help our clients grow. You’ll oversee a talented team of strategists, designers, account managers, and project managers while also shaping innovative service offerings, strengthening client partnerships, and achieving ambitious business goals.

What You ll Do:

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Execute the agency’s Web & Brand vision, service offerings, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with company growth strategy.
    • Partner with executive leadership to position Web & Brand as a differentiator in new business development, pitches, and client retention.
    • Lead strategic growth initiatives such as productizing services and evolving delivery frameworks.
    • Provide regular reporting to executives on department performance and opportunities.
  • Team & Practice Leadership
    • Build, scale, and nurture a cross-functional team across web, brand, and related disciplines.
    • Recruit, mentor, and inspire leaders and individual contributors, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
    • Coordinate recurring leadership meetings to align priorities, surface challenges, and strengthen collaboration.
    • Champion professional development and learning opportunities for team members.
  • Client Engagement & Delivery
    • Serve as senior sponsor for key accounts, building trusted partnerships with client leadership and ensuring long-term success.
    • Advise clients on web and brand strategies that support both the ongoing optimization of existing websites (performance, UX, accessibility, SEO, analytics) and the development of new, large-scale sites.
    • Oversee delivery of complex web and brand engagements, ensuring excellence across discovery, strategy, design, and development phases.
    • Partner with Client Services leadership to proactively identify opportunities to enhance site performance, scalability, and client ROI.
    • Ensure web and brand solutions are integrated with broader marketing and business objectives, aligning with client growth goals.
  • Financial & Operational Management
    • Manage departmental budget, ensuring strong financial performance across revenue delivery, recurring revenue retention, and contribution margin.
    • Proactively plan staffing and resourcing based on pipeline and active projects, working closely with recruitment and department leaders.
    • Maintain systems that enable efficient project resourcing and cross-team collaboration.
    • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including partner agencies and outsourced talent.
    • Identify and implement reporting capabilities, tools, and technologies (AI, CRM, analytics platforms) to maximize delivery efficiency and insight.
  • Growth & Innovation
    • Own and achieve an individual new business revenue target, contributing directly to the agency’s growth.
    • Actively participate in new business calls and pitches, helping to win net-new clients and expand relationships within existing accounts.
    • Partner with Sales to identify opportunities, shape proposals, and position Web & Brand services as strategic differentiators.
    • Stay attuned to emerging trends and technologies in web, brand, and digital experience, ensuring offerings remain innovative and competitive.
    • Define KPIs and success measures that demonstrate the value and impact of Web & Brand engagements.

What You ll Bring:

  • 15+ years of experience in digital agencies or related environments, with significant leadership over Wordpress, Drupal, and Shopify websites.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver personas, user journeys, strategic competitive reviews, and UX audits that inform high-performing websites and brand experiences.
  • Proven track record building and scaling CRO practices with deep expertise in web strategy, UX, and brand design. You have a strong grasp of how insights translate into execution.
