Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking an experienced Service Now Software Engineer – Platform Operations to manage the technical aspects and development of the Service Now environment to join our Global Digital Services team based out of our Stevens Point, WI or Boston, MA office locations. This newly created position supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and high-performance Service Now solutions that enable digital workflows across the organization.

The candidate should demonstrate broad technical knowledge of Service Now products, such as ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, and Sec Ops, with a focus on platform architecture, governance, and automation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Administer and configure the Service Now platform including user interfaces, workflows, reporting, integrations, etc.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical designs and solutions.
• Create documentation for new and existing solutions including application architecture, data flows, technical designs etc.
• Manage platform upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
• Monitor system health and proactively address issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Establish and enforce platform standards, development guidelines, and governance models.
• Stay current with Service Now releases and emerging capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to enhance user experience and streamline workflows through automation and AI.

Qualifications,

Skills and Experience:

• 7+ years of hands‑on experience with Service Now platform engineering in a large enterprise environment.
• Proven expertise in multiple Service Now modules and custom application development.
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes and enterprise architecture principles.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and Dev Ops practices.
• Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD) required; additional certifications (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, HRSD) are a plus.
• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS) and integration with Service Now.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
