Systems Administrator II
Join the Computational and AI Services team within the Informatics & Analytics department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). The System Administrator – Storage Management will provide computing services and assistance to faculty and research staff, delivering HPC, storage, and cloud operational support to bio‑medical research.
Responsibilities- Active monitoring and fast response to help‑desk requests to ensure high system availability to all users with minimal interruptions.
- Coordinate services, account access, and software/hardware issues.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or network problems, replacing defective components when necessary.
- May write scripts to manage computing queues and develop policies and quotas on centralized cluster storage.
- Coordinate LAN/WAN hardware, software, and Internet/Intranet/Extranet integration.
- Work closely with scientific staff to anticipate and meet program requirements for computational infrastructure.
- Represent the department with external institutes and user groups, and provide user training sessions, materials, and documents.
- Experience with Unix, HTTP, HTML, ATM, ARCNET, and similar technologies.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all staff levels and external contacts.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Experience managing high‑performance computer clusters and programming in a higher language such as C, Java, PHP, Python (a plus).
The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (MS preferred) and 3–5 years of relevant experience; education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Additional InformationDSCI is an equal‑opportunity employer; background checks required. Pay range: $87,000 – $100,400. Full‑time, Mid‑Senior level.
