Director of Solutions Architect

A leading investment management firm is seeking a Director of Solutions Architecture to join its team in Boston, MA. This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity requiring three days onsite per week, ideal for an experienced technology leader with a strong background in enterprise architecture, AWS cloud solutions, API-first design, and modern application development. The role will focus on cloud-native architecture, secure and scalable applications, Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD automation, and enterprise technology modernization.

This is an opportunity to lead architecture initiatives across multiple engineering teams while remaining connected to hands-on technology and application design. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strategic leadership and practical development experience, with the ability to guide architecture decisions, influence technical roadmaps, and partner with engineering and business stakeholders. You will help shape cloud and AI/ML strategies, modernize enterprise applications, and build secure, resilient solutions in a sophisticated financial services environment.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys mentoring technical teams, solving complex architectural challenges, and driving technology strategy across an organization.

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise technology solutions.
• Proven experience leading solution architecture from strategy through implementation, including architecture ownership, design documentation, and stakeholder communication.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting cloud applications in AWS environments, including containerized applications and custom enterprise solutions.
• Demonstrated experience with API-first architecture, including modern, decoupled, secure, and scalable APIs.
• Prior hands-on software development experience with Java, Spring Boot, and JavaScript, with experience building APIs and user interfaces clearly demonstrated on the resume.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-native solutions, including application modernization and migration initiatives.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, security, data architecture, scalability, and resiliency.
• Experience with Dev Sec Ops  practices, CI/CD automation, and AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.
• Experience working with databases, data platforms, and data APIs in public cloud environments.
• Ability to assess business priorities, evaluate technical risks and tradeoffs, and translate business needs into technology solutions.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build relationships across product, engineering, architecture, and leadership teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.

• Experience with in the financial services or investment management industry.
• Experience contributing to AI/ML strategies, roadmaps, and enterprise technology initiatives.
• Experience with containerization, cloud-native application patterns, and modern distributed systems.
• Experience leading architecture initiatives across multiple engineering squads.
• Experience developing product roadmaps, architecture artifacts, and technical improvement plans.
• Familiarity with enterprise cloud governance, security standards, and application modernization strategies.
• Passion for emerging technologies and the ability to work across multiple languages, frameworks, and platforms.
