Husch Blackwell LLP is a full‑service litigation and business law firm with multiple locations across the United States. We are looking for a Mass Tort Paralegal to support our New England asbestos practice.
Position OverviewThe Mass Tort Paralegal will assist attorneys with fact investigation, legal research, document preparation and production, database management, docketing/case management, and client service. The role focuses on New England asbestos litigation and may involve discovery, deposition preparation, trial and mediation preparation, pleadings, motions, and database management.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a professional demeanor and attitude.
- Comply with firm policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in in‑house CLEs.
- Organize and manage files independently or delegate to Paralegal Assistants.
- Supervise and mentor Paralegal Assistants.
- Anticipate attorney needs and handle key duties without supervision.
- Meet a billable hour requirement of 1,500 hours per year.
- Deliver superior service to internal and external customers and communicate effectively.
- Present a professional appearance and interact courteously with clients and employees.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills.
- Work collaboratively within a team and adapt to changing business demands.
- Produce accurate and high‑quality work efficiently.
- Exercise good judgment, assume responsibility for decisions, and act decisively under deadlines.
- Maintain professional integrity and confidentiality.
- Lead and motivate others; manage direct reports when applicable.
- Mandatory experience in asbestos or toxic‑tort litigation.
- Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in a law‑related field, or an Associate’s degree with paralegal training.
- Familiarity with e‑filing protocols and online docket research in New England state and federal courts.
- Preferred location within the New England area (not required for candidates with asbestos litigation experience).
- Salary ranges by state:
- California: $84,000 – $112,000
- Colorado: $67,000 – $92,000
- Illinois: $72,000 – $98,000
- Maryland: $70,000 – $98,000
- Massachusetts: $76,000 – $90,000
- Minnesota: $89,000 – $100,000
- New Jersey: $85,000 – $116,000
- New York: $79,000 – $116,000
- Washington: $78,000 – $106,000
- District of Columbia: $85,000 – $115,000
