Job Description & How to Apply Below
Insurance Defense Attorney | Boston, MA | Up-to $180K
Join a premier boutique litigation powerhouse serving U.S. businesses nationwide from offices in CT, MA, NC, NJ, NY, PA and SC with a reputation for results‑driven advocacy in complex insurance, construction, and commercial disputes (ranked by Chambers USA, Best Law Firms Tier 1, Super Lawyers Top 50, and praised in Law
360 for efficient, high‑stakes wins against Big Law). The firm seeks a 7+ year senior insurance defense attorney for its Boston office. In a hybrid environment with low overhead and agile staffing, you’ll lead Insurance defense matters for national carriers and expand into professional liability/subrogation matters, with a clear track to equity partnership within 2 years.
Base pay range: $140,000 - $180,000 per year.
Why You Should Join:
• Lead Sophisticated Insurance Defense Early:
Handle first/third‑party coverage, bad faith, professional liability and construction matters, and extra‑contractual claims for Fortune clients, with full case ownership and courtroom strategy from day one (backed by firm’s depth in multi‑jurisdictional mega‑litigation and creative resolutions).
• Efficient, Collaborative Culture:
Escape Big Law bureaucracy in a flat, agile structure focused on results over hours—lower overhead means flexible rates and true work‑life balance (per Vault rankings and client testimonials on “unparalleled service”).
• Career Growth & Recognition:
Equity partner track for proven leaders, mentorship from ex‑AmLaw 100 trial veterans, and training emphasizing tailored client solutions in a rewarding, enjoyable environment.
• Flexible, High‑Value Model:
Hybrid Boston‑based role, competitive compensation + performance bonuses with a base salary up‑to $180K, lower billable thresholds, and benefits designed for sustainable success.
• Contribute Meaningfully from Day One:
Own high‑exposure files, advise insurers directly, and drive outcomes in regional/national matters that define industries.
Key Duties:
• Draft coverage opinions, RORs, disclaimers, and bad faith defenses for property, casualty, and specialty lines.
• Conduct early evaluations, depositions, and dispositive motions in state/federal courts.
• Advise on reinsurance arbitrations, subrogation recoveries, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate on multi‑state teams for catastrophic losses and complex commercial disputes.
• Support partners in client development and strategic resolution decisions.
• Represent clients in federal/state courtrooms and arbitrations, including arguing motions, evidentiary hearings, and jury trials when cases proceed to verdict.
Ideal Candidate:
• 7+ years insurance defense/coverage experience (carrier‑side preferred).
• MA bar required; additional state bars (CT, NY, NJ, PA) a plus but not essential.
• Proven litigation track record with strong academics and advocacy skills.
• Collaborative mindset eager for autonomy, national platform, and equity partnership.
