Organizational Overview

The Emerald Necklace Conservancy is a private, non‑profit stewardship organization established in 1997 with the primary mission of restoring, improving, and protecting the historic Emerald Necklace park system in Boston and Brookline. As a dedicated guardian of landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted's late 19th‑century vision, the Conservancy serves as the critical link between public agencies and the private sector to ensure these 1,100 acres of green space thrive for modern urban residents.

The Conservancy is dedicated to stewarding the 1,100‑acre linear Emerald Necklace park system in Boston and Brookline, connecting over 15 diverse neighborhoods. Our vision: A thriving Emerald Necklace where people and parks care for each other, made possible through thoughtful park care, people‑driven programming and inclusive policy work.

Position Overview

The Emerald Necklace Conservancy seeks an enthusiastic, outgoing and creative communications professional to maintain and increase public awareness of Boston's historic Emerald Necklace park system and the Conservancy's work – via press relations, social media, marketing and communications initiatives, the Shattuck Visitor Center and in‑parks signage and mobile tour guide programs.

Serving on the Marketing and Communications team and reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Manager is charged with increasing the public's awareness, appreciation, use and support for the Emerald Necklace and the work of the Conservancy through a mutually reinforcing program of social media, special events, communications, visitor resources and media relations.

This position is hybrid, requiring two or more regular workdays in the Conservancy offices at 350 Jamaica way and/or 125 The Fenway, plus occasional work in the Emerald Necklace parks and at external events.
