Account Supervisor

The Account Supervisor (AS) is a brand champion, demonstrating strong ownership of the brand and keeping the focus on brand success. Often, an AS has toward mastering the following core competencies.

• Develops and maintains harmonious client relationships
• Has daily contact with the key client contacts
• Ensures client is kept apprised of status of all jobs and ongoing progress
• Ensures documentation and correspondence are issues promptly and accurately
• Attends all client meetings/conventions/market research and handles timely follow-up
• Delivers recommendations for programs, big ideas, and incremental income
• Represents agency POV
• Handles objections well and defends agency position/work
• Acts as arbiter and solves problems as needed among the account team

• Ensure all members of the brand team keep focused on what's best for the brand
• Thoroughly understands the brand positioning
• Challenges strategies, client direction, market research results, programs or ideas that are not aligned with the brand positioning
• Ensures all strategies, creative, and tactics developed support the brand positioning
• Continually seeks brand building opportunities/ways to overcome obstacles

• Possesses an intimate knowledge of the market to which their brand belongs
• Thoroughly understands the product and its performance
• Analyzes and extracts pertinent findings/issues from all available marketing data
• Understands the objectives and outcomes of common market research methodologies
• Appropriately interprets market research data
• Actively participates in strategic development
• Develops or contributes to development of copy strategy/positioning
• Ensures development of a strategic communications plan with alignment between issues, strategies programming

• Manages objections to the creative product and ensures proper interpretation of client comments

• Understands income sources and client compensation structure
• Maintains financial control of all client work (estimates, jobs, fees, billing)
• Manages client demands versus budget
• Assists in financial control of account, both manpower utilization and profitability
• Generates project lists for fee development and initiates fee development
• Prepares forecasts and updates regularly
• Identifies opportunities to realize incremental income

• Spearheads preparation of strategic options, copy strategy and creative
• Fosters teamwork and resolves conflict
• Motivates brand team members to give optimum attention to all levels of detail
• Provides clear direction and establishes expectations for subordinates
