Event Management & Planning
Sandpiper Productions | Boston, MA | $30/hour | Independent contractor (gig work)
We're building our Boston-area team for the busy holiday season and the spring and early-summer rush. You'd work tastings and promotions at liquor and wine stores, neighborhood bars, restaurants and taprooms across the city and nearby towns, including Cambridge, Quincy, Waltham, Newton, Medford and Malden.
When we work in the Boston area:
Most events are on Fridays and Saturdays: afternoon in-store and bar tastings, usually starting between 3 and 6 PM, plus Thursday and Friday evening events at bars and restaurants. Most shifts are 2 to 3 hours. Some events run on Sunday afternoons or weeknights, and our busiest months are December-January and May-June.
About SandpiperSandpiper Productions is a beverage marketing company that connects people with brands they know and love through in-store tastings, bar and nightlife activations, and experiential events across the U.S. Our Brand Ambassadors are the face of those brands, and they're what set us apart. Our clients count on top-notch professionalism at every event, and we set our team up to deliver it.
Whatyou'll do
- Host tastings and product demos for beer, wine and spirits brands at retail stores, bars and private events
- Be the face of the brand: greet shoppers and guests, educate them on what makes each product special, and convert them into customers
- Represent premium brands at in-store and private tastings, nightlife activations and promotional events
- Research the brands you sign up to promote before each event, using our optional training materials
- Clock in and out of each event by geolocation in our app, and keep us posted on anything that comes up on site
- $30/hour, paid for the time you work for the client
- Flexible scheduling: you choose which events to pick up
- Work with top beverage brands and meet new people at every event
- Sales and brand training to help you succeed
- A management team that's available 24/7 to answer questions while you're on site
- Punctual: you arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start (that's on time for us) and stay through the end of your shift
- Communicative: you let us know right away about any obstacle or issue at an event
- Prepared: as an independent contractor, you know the brands you represent before you arrive
- Engaging: you're attentive, inviting and enthusiastic, and you stay engaged and off your phone for the whole event
- Must be 21 or older
- A current alcohol seller-server certification, such as TIPS or your state's required course, or willingness to get one before your first event
- Reliable transportation to events within about 30 minutes of where you live
- A smartphone and comfort using simple apps
- Availability when events run in your area (see above)
This role is active and hands‑on. With or without reasonable accommodation, you need to be able to:
- Stand and walk for the full event, usually 2 to 3 hours, including in crowded bars and stores
- Move through crowds to approach and engage guests, not just stay behind a table
- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs (for example a folding table, product and supplies for in-store tastings) from your car to the setup spot
- Climb stairs and work in venues that may not have elevators or ramps
- For most in-store tastings, set up and break down your own folding table and display
Your setup can look different at each venue. If you need an accommodation, tell us and we'll talk through which events work for you.
