Comsint Communications is a Boston-based, award-winning PR agency and communications consultancy. We work at the point where business decisions become public stories, helping senior leaders make sure those stories are understood by the people who matter to them.
Our team pairs Emmy-winning creative talent with proprietary AI tools and behavioral insight, which lets us keep a client's message consistent whether it lands in a trade journal or a two-minute video.
Clients come to us for counsel as much as execution. Some arrive in the middle of a crisis, while others want a thought leadership program that compounds over years. In every case we start with the business objective and judge the work by what the audience understood and remembered, rather than by the volume of coverage.
The roleWe're looking for someone who has spent a career earning reporters' trust and knows how to turn it into coverage. As Director, Earned Media, you'll lead media relations across the agency, deciding which stories are worth telling and seeing them through to publication.
We're a small team, so you won't be handing pitches to a junior staffer or waiting for a client to bring you an idea. The best opportunities will come from you.
We also work together in our Hingham office every day. Story ideas come out of hallway conversations, and pitches get sharper when a colleague reads them first. If that's how you like to work, we'd like to talk.
What you'll do- Lead media outreach for Comsint Communications clients, from local and Boston outlets to national press and the trade publications their industries rely on.
- Build lasting relationships with reporters and editors, knowing their beats well enough to tell when a story fits and when it doesn't.
- Bring earned media opportunities forward before anyone asks, for clients and for the agency itself.
- Write press releases and pitches that reporters actually open.
- Manage the steady work of placement, including announcements, calendar listings, contributed content and self-publishing opportunities on news sites.
- Track and report results so clients can see what the work produced.
- At least 10 years in media relations, with relationships you can name.
- Writing that holds up on deadline, whether it's a clean release or a pitch that earns a reply.
- The self-direction to know what to work on without being handed a list.
- The organization to manage several clients and news cycles at once without dropping anything.
- A preference for close collaboration on a small team.
- Experience in healthcare, legal, environmental or maritime sectors is a plus.
