Position Summary/
Department Summary:
The Leadership Gifts Officer plays a vital role in advancing Boston Children’s Hospital’s mission by securing annual gifts through both independent initiatives and collaborative efforts. This position involves managing a portfolio of donors and prospects. Engaging with donors through personalized methods, including phone calls, face-to-face meetings, emails, and mail, the officer will secure current contributions while cultivating future opportunities for higher-level leadership gifts, planned gifts, and mid-level donations.
Additionally, the this role will oversee leadership giving program activities as assigned, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and fostering meaningful donor relationships.
- Manage Donor Portfolio:
Oversee a portfolio of donors and prospects contributing between $1,000 and $50,000 annually, ensuring consistent engagement and stewardship to secure ongoing or increased philanthropic support - Donor Engagement and Cultivation:
Execute personalized outreach efforts to build and nurture meaningful relationships with donors, strengthening their connection to Boston Children’s Hospital - Strategic Development:
Develop and implement strategies to identify and cultivate prospects and donors for further engagement across programs, contributing to the long-term growth of the donor base - Collaborative Initiatives:
Work closely with other teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals, participating in monthly planned giving strategy meetings, contributing to mid-level prospect review sessions, and other event-driven efforts - Program Management:
Oversee leadership giving program activities as assigned, ensuring they are executed effectively and align with institutional objectives - Reporting and Analysis:
Maintain accurate records of donor activity and secured revenue to provide updates on achieving annual metrics
- 3 years of progressive experience in business admin, marketing, nonprofit management, fundraising and/or equivalent experience is required. Candidates with non-traditional backgrounds are encouraged to apply if they demonstrate relevant experience and skills.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required
- Excellent judgement and customer service skills when engaging with donors and faculty;
Understands they are representing the organization in all their work - Strong presentation, writing, and communications skills. Has the ability to convey complex and often evolving information clearly and persuasively, adapt communication styles to various audiences, and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations
- Exhibits initiative, strong attention to detail, high productivity, and responsiveness to staff and donor concerns
- Strong technical skills in generic software programs (Excel, Microsoft) and IT systems, and the ability to develop proficiency in specific fundraising database management systems (CRM) and reporting software (Tableau)
