As a Registered Nurse (RN) on Boston Medical Center (BMC)’s Medical Surgical – Orthopedics Unit (M4E), you will be part of a Magnet® recognized organization delivering exceptional and equitable care. Location: M4E, Medical Surgical – Orthopedics Unit
Schedule: 36 Hours (Nights) w/ Every other weekend/holiday
About the Unit: 4 East is a 37‑bed surgical unit serving orthopedics, hip fracture, ENT, and OMFS populations. Cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse patient and staff populations are expected.
Position Summary: As an RN in the Medical Surgical, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care through a patient‑centered care model in a supportive nursing organization.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
- Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families.
- Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
- Update and manage patient records and enter/interpret computerized data/information.
- Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
- Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects.
- Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience preferred.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS); advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification required for certain units.
- Nursing degree:
Diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred) and ability to obtain BSN within 4 years. - Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty; certification required for certain practice areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Fluency in another language is a plus.
- Competitive pay ($38.05–$75.33 per hour).
