location & schedule

location: medical surgical – general med surg unit, m6e (36‑bed, 6 east).
schedule: 36 hrs. Nights, alternating weekend/holiday shifts.

the 6 east unit cares for a wide range of general medical diagnoses. Candidates should bring cultural competence, professional integrity, and a passion for varied clinical experiences.

position summary

as an rn in the medical surgical unit, you will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care within a supportive nursing organization. Your duties include direct patient care, collaboration with the health‑care team, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.

job responsibilities

• deliver nursing care in the medical surgical unit, including assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and education of patients.
• communicate with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
• coordinate and delegate appropriate patient‑care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
• update and manage patient records and interpret computerized data/information.
• follow guidelines and policies established by bmc’s nursing organization.
• assist the leadership team as needed in quality‑improvement projects.

job requirements

• licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the commonwealth of massachusetts.
• 1+ year rn experience preferred.
• certified in basic life support (bls); advanced cardiac life support (acls) required in certain units.
• rn degree: diploma, asn, or bsn (preferred). Ability to obtain a bsn within 4 years.
• relevant clinical experience and/or specialty; certifications required for specific practice areas.
• effective verbal and written communication skills.
• physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• basic computer proficiency.
• fluency in another language is a plus.

compensation range

$38.05 – $75.33 per hour. This range reflects education, experience, licensure, and certifications directly related to the position. Total compensation includes benefits, contract increases, flexible spending accounts, 403(b) savings matches, earned‑time cash out, paid time off, career advancement opportunities, and additional resources to support employee and family well‑being.
