Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Boston University Occupational Health Services and in collaboration with BUOHCs Medical Director, the Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner is a self-directed healthcare provider, consultant, and coordinator of care. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing direct patient care, medical clearance, education, and support to employees of Boston University. Works collaboratively with key stakeholders including Human Resources, Equal Opportunity Office and Environmental Health and Safety.
The Nurse Practitioner will assess, diagnose, and treat work-related injuries/exposures/illness and evaluate outcomes. The position supports the non-occupational injury and illness return to work program and pre-placement clearance process. The Nurse Practitioner is a highly valued clinical resource for the Boston University employee community and participates in Boston University sponsored wellness initiatives.
Required Skills:
- Master of Science degree or higher in nursing from an accredited program.
- Active license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Massachusetts (Adult or Family - Nurse Practitioner) and active license as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
- Active DEA prescribing license obtained in the state of Massachusetts or eligible to obtain DEA license.
- Active Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) or eligible to obtain MCSR.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Occupational Health or related field as a Nurse Practitioner. Willing to pursue certification to perform Federal Motor Carrier Driver Examinations (CDL) within one year of hire.
- Strong PC and technology skills including familiarity with case management software, electronic medical records, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and people skills. Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
