Overview

Michael S. Coffin LLC is a full-service landscape construction and horticultural management firm specializing in high-end residential properties throughout New England. We combine expert craftsmanship with horticultural insight to create and maintain exceptional outdoor living spaces.

We’re looking for experienced fine gardeners to join our team in a hands-on, field-based role focused on garden care, plant health, and seasonal detail. These roles offer the opportunity to work across a portfolio of exceptional residential properties — providing high-level horticultural care, collaborating with field crews, and helping maintain the design intent of some of the region’s most refined gardens.

The ideal candidate is both knowledgeable and observant, with a strong foundation in horticultural best practices and a natural ability to communicate with clients and colleagues alike.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain plant health through pruning, observation, and responsive care
  • Identify and address pest, disease, or environmental issues as they arise
  • Assist in developing and executing seasonal plantings and display rotations
  • Communicate with crews to ensure quality and consistency across properties
  • Documents garden updates, treatments, and field notes using internal systems
  • Support day-to-day team operations and contribute to training new crew members
  • Supports long-term garden health while respecting the original design intent
Qualifications
  • 3+ years working in high-end residential or estate gardening
  • Strong working knowledge of New England plant material and seasonal care
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on site
  • Deep attention to detail and genuine passion for plants
  • Full-time, seasonal role based in greater Boston, with regional travel
  • Competitive hourly compensation
Benefits
  • 401(k) plan
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
