Job SummaryThe Seasonal Gardener works in the Horticulture and Landscape Department, contributing to the stewardship of one of North America’s finest woody plant collections. Responsibilities include routine lawn and landscape maintenance, integrated pest management, pruning, transplanting, and support for collection renovation projects.
Job‑Specific Responsibilities- Weeding, mulching, and brush chipping
- Pruning
- Transplanting
- Watering
- IPM (Integrated Pest Management) practices
- Mowing, string trimming, and leaf clean‑up
- Litter management
- Operation and maintenance of various equipment
- Landscape maintenance and collection renovation projects as needed
- Other related duties as assigned
- Minimum of one year experience in horticulture or a related field
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and transporting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for eight hours per day
- Work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation
- Availability to respond to weather‑related emergencies affecting the grounds
- Standard hours/schedule: 40 hours per week
