The Opportunity

In this role, you will report to the Site Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location

Waltham, MA, with a future relocation to Cambridge, MA mid-2026.

Shift

Mon - Fri, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Hourly Range

$21.00 - $24.50

What we’re looking for

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.

Experience: Minimum 2+ years in lab operations, inventory management, or related field.

Technical Skills
  • Microsoft Teams and Office Suite proficiency.
  • Knowledge of lab equipment maintenance and safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems and KPI reporting.
Preferred Certifications
  • SHE safety training
  • Hazardous materials handling (IATA/DOT)
  • Lab operations or equipment maintenance certifications
How you will thrive and create an impact

Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high‑tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end‑to‑end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

  • Serve as the single point of contact for lab operational support, including material flow, equipment availability, and FM service delivery.
  • Maintain day‑to‑day lab operations and safety compliance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for internal and customer‑owned workflows.
  • Organize storage and manage samples in fridges, freezers, and cabinets.
  • Maintain common lab areas such as consumable racks, cold rooms, TC rooms, and equipment rooms.
  • Support new hire training in collaboration with Avantor Site Leaders and Lab Managers.
  • Schedule vendor visits for equipment maintenance and repairs; act as lab chaperone as needed.
  • Provide routine equipment assistance (calibration, solvent/buffer checks, instrument start‑up, waste handling).
  • Monitor consumable levels and coordinate replenishment with Lab Managers.
  • Manage lab coat program and liaise with service providers.
  • Submit work orders through SAP system and maintain KPIs and metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with SHE safety procedures and participate in audits.
