Senior Research Associate, Shuttled Oligo Therapeutics

Manifold Bio is a dynamic biotech company building a pipeline of targeted biologics using a novel in vivo-centric discovery approach. Our drug discovery engine is differentiated by massively parallel screening in vivo from the beginning of our discovery process. This unique platform is powered by a proprietary protein barcoding technology that allows multiplexed protein quantitation at unprecedented scale and sensitivity. We combine this and other high-throughput protein engineering approaches with computational design to create antibody‑like drugs and other biologics.

Our world‑class team of protein engineers, biologists, and computational scientists are working together to aim the platform at therapeutic opportunities where precise targeting is the key to overcoming clinical challenges.

Position

Manifold Bio is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate to join our growing shuttled oligonucleotide therapeutics team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building our oligonucleotide shuttling capabilities and supporting multiple oligo‑based disease programs. You will develop and execute essential molecular and biochemical assays for PK/PD assessment and therapeutic index evaluation of both oligonucleotide delivery shuttles and oligo therapeutics.

This position is central to advancing our internal pipeline and establishing strategic partnerships for neuro and other applications. As a dedicated member of the oligo team, you will enable continuous execution of critical lab work, expand our molecular assay toolkit, and contribute directly to the advancement of breakthrough oligonucleotide therapeutics.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze samples from in vitro and in vivo studies using a variety of biochemical and molecular biology techniques such as cell and tissue lysis, nucleic acid extraction, RT-qPCR, and SDS-PAGE.
  • Support the development and optimization of assays and experimental methods for the purpose of evaluating oligonucleotide-based therapeutics in disease models.
  • Design and perform cell-free and cell‑based experiments to develop and implement novel assays and technologies.
  • Author and maintain good written records of laboratory procedures and data, study protocols and other scientific documents. Present key findings at internal and external scientific meetings.
  • Interact and communicate with supervisor, study leads and other team members.
  • Support day-to-day laboratory tasks.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Biology or related field with 5+ years of relevant laboratory research experience, or the equivalent experience obtained through working in a laboratory setting.
  • Extensive experience and strong technical background with all aspects of molecular and cellular biology:
  • Proficient in cell culture practices and methodologies, using a variety of mammalian cells (such as transformed cell lines and patient fibroblasts).
  • Nucleic acid methodologies and gene expression analysis including RNA/DNA isolation, RT-PCR, qPCR, agarose gel electrophoresis.
  • Protein analysis methodologies including western blot, ELISA, Protein quantification assays.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment, software and data analysis software.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with oligonucleotide therapeutics or antisense technologies (siRNA, antisense oligonucleotides).
  • Hands‑on experience with flow cytometry and microscopy techniques.
This Role Might Be Perfect For You If
  • You are passionate about developing novel therapeutic modalities and want to be at the forefront of oligonucleotide drug delivery.
  • You thrive in a fast-moving startup environment that values scientific innovation and collaborative problem‑solving.
  • This role requires strong technical expertise combined with independence, adaptability, and a proactive mindset.
  • You excel at generating high-quality, reproducible data and take pride in rigorous experimental documentation.
  • You value working efficiently to meet critical deadlines while maintaining scientific excellence, and you're energized by contributing ideas that advance both individual projects and platform capabilities.

If you're excited to leverage cutting‑edge shuttle technology to unlock the therapeutic potential of oligonucleotides, work alongside a talented cross‑functional team, and contribute directly to our mission of advancing breakthrough treatments, please reach out to careers.

We value different experiences and ways of thinking and believe the most talented teams are built by bringing together people of diverse cultures, genders, and backgrounds.
