Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute, Tufts Medical Center, Boston, invites post-doctoral applications for a position in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Blanton. The Blanton laboratory aims to discover novel anti-remodeling signaling molecules in the heart which will enable the design of more effective and better-tolerated therapies for heart failure patients. To this end, our lab investigates basic signaling mechanisms which oppose cardiac dysfunction in heart failure but do not promote excess vasodilation and hypotension.

We employ a variety of in vitro, cell culture, and in vivo techniques, including signaling studies, cardiac myocyte culture, and invasive hemodynamic measurements. The laboratory anticipates performing single-cell measurements of cardiac myocyte traction and calcium influx.

We seek a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow, ideally with prior experience and/or a willingness to learn to design and perform chemical screens and kinase activity assays. The position will also involve performing and analyzing in vivo cardiac function studies in mice. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator to address clinically relevant questions in cardiac biology. As needed, the individual will develop protocols independently and establish new methodologies in the laboratory.

The applicant would be intimately involved in writing and presenting new discoveries.
