The RoleWe are seeking a Research Associate to oversee the collection of experimental data and the operation of mechanical assay laboratory equipment used in haircare research. This role will involve the collection of detailed measurement and analysis in assays as well as ensuring the proper functioning of instruments. The position is on‑site, Monday through Friday, at our labs in Cambridge, MA, with a start date in Jan/Feb 2026.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and analyze experimental data from mechanical haircare assays, ensuring accurate and reliable documentation of process and results for ongoing studies.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and servicing of lab instrumentation for haircare assays.
- Independently troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on instrumentation to minimize downtime and ensure consistent performance.
- Maintain effective communication with instrument manufacturers and service technicians for troubleshooting, repairs, and technical support.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive SOP for instrumentation and train new users.
- Responsible for related inquiries, quotes, and general communications with vendors, CRO, and core services for instrumentation and chemical needs.
- Accountable for the ordering, organization, and upkeep of general lab supplies.
- Collaborate with team members to anticipate upcoming company needs.
- B.S. or M.S. degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, material science, chemistry, or related fields.
- Highly detail oriented, with a zero‑defect mindset.
- Experience in maintaining lab instruments, and implementing processes and methodologies in instrumentation for a broader team.
- Exceptional manual dexterity and capability in performing detailed, hands‑on tasks.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and the resourcefulness to troubleshoot and find solutions independently.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong sense of responsibility and urgency.
