Clinical Research, Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
In this role, you will assist scientists in performing research, development, and clinical tasks of varying complexity by setting up, operating, and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment, monitoring experiments, making observations, calculating and recording results. The position is located in Boston and surrounding communities at Dana‑Farber Cancer Institute, a leader in cancer research and patient care.
Responsibilities- Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment.
- Prepare and maintain work areas, order supplies, and collaborate with purchasing/vendors.
- Conduct standardized biological, microbiological, or biochemical tests; collect and process organic samples such as blood, drugs, and animal specimens.
- Prepare specimens, isolate and identify samples, and document results.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, write reports and summaries, and support grant preparation and manuscript submissions.
- Present findings to staff and participate in research presentations.
- Maintain detailed notebooks of all work activities.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety regulations and laboratory SOPs.
- Continuously update knowledge of scientific literature and research publications.
- Assist in developing, modifying, and improving operating procedures.
- Operate computer‑interfaced equipment, robotics, and high‑technology applications.
- Design and execute advanced experiments and set experimental strategy.
- Examine animals and specimens to detect disease or other issues.
- Monitor laboratory budgets.
- Knowledge of biology, chemistry, or medicine (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Logical analysis and problem‑solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Team‑working skills.
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in biology or chemistry) with no prior professional experience required. Candidates will learn and apply technical principles, processes, and concepts, follow institutional policies for routine issues, and handle problems of limited scope.
