Reporting to:
Scientia Professor Justin Gooding, no direct reports.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will contribute to the Smart Materials and Surfaces research group within the School of Chemistry position is part of an ARC Discovery grant focused on the importance of nanoconfinement in electrochemistry. The incumbent will perform fundamental electrochemical research on developing electrodes that provide insights into electrochemical behaviour at the nanoscale.
Specific Responsibilities- Conduct research in electrochemistry and electrocatalysis.
- Perform and supervise experiments evaluating catalytic materials.
- Write and maintain laboratory notebooks detailing all experiments conducted.
- Provide on‑time analysis of experimental results.
- Analyse and write results in a format suitable for publication in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Contribute to the writing of scientific papers, reports for international journals and progress reporting to researchers and industry partners.
- Assist with the coordination of research activities and actively contribute to research outputs to meet project milestones.
- Present results at national and international conferences.
- Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
- A PhD specialising in electrochemistry.
- Demonstrated ability to develop electrochemical procedures for materials characterisation.
- Extensive experience in performing electrochemical measurements.
- Demonstrated experience in materials synthesis.
- Previous experience in a research environment and in training PhD and Honours students.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
