PositionSummary
We are seeking a Senior Scientist, Pharmacology to provide scientific and technical leadership within our Pharmacology team. This role will design, conduct, and interpret preclinical in vivo and in vitro studies to support lead optimization and progression of pipeline assets toward investigational new drug (IND)-enabling studies. Responsibilities include applying knowledge of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling pathways, conducting studies using rodent models to evaluate changes in body weight, body composition, and glycemic control, and documenting study results and recommendations to inform compound selection and development decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the strategy for in vivo pharmacology across obesity and metabolic programs. Translate target biology into robust translational screening cascades and lead optimization workflows.
- Design, execute, and oversee complex mouse and rat models (from early discovery to IND-enabling studies). Evaluate pathway-specific biology, receptor internalization kinetics, PD markers, and efficacy readouts to establish clear PK/PD relationships.
- Work closely with Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, DMPK, Toxicology, and Translational Science teams to drive candidate selection, nominate development candidates, and support IND filings.
- Direct and oversee CRO activities for study design, model development, and execution, ensuring high scientific quality and timely data delivery.
- Regularly synthesize and present scientific findings to cross-functional program teams and maintain electronic data management
- Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biology, or a related life sciences discipline, and at least 5+ years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years of working experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated ability to independently design and conduct in vivo studies, analyze and interpret results, and communicate findings and recommendations.
- Experience performing mouse and rat handling, dosing, blood collection, and tissue collection procedures.
- Experience conducting pharmacology studies to support small molecule drug discovery.
- Experience coordinating studies with contract research organizations (CROs), including defining study requirements and reviewing deliverables.
- Experience using statistical analysis and data visualization tools, such as Graph Pad Prism or Excel, and tools for metabolic profiling.
- Experience contributing pharmacology data and recommendations to development candidate nomination, coordinating external research partners, and supporting IND-enabling activities.
- Experience designing, conducting, or interpreting studies…
